General Manager Position

Humboldt Spay/Neuter Network, which operates an established nonprofit spay/neuter clinic in Eureka, California, is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations, financial management, outreach, and assist with long-range planning for the business. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and a business degree, veterinary hospital management, or equivalent experience is preferred. Responsibilities will include:

  • Personnel: hiring and supervision of support staff, including conducting staff meetings and performance reviews, and insuring compliance with personnel policies and State and Federal regulations;

  • Financial Management: including budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and account reconciliations;

  • Facility Maintenance: oversee and supervise the maintenance of building, grounds, office and clinic equipment;

  • Public Relations: oversee outreach and marketing and networking with other rescue groups, and city and county agencies;

  • Fundraising and Grant Management: preparation of grants, donation appeals and newsletters, tracking and acknowledgement of grants and donations; oversee outreach and marketing;

  • Corporate Compliance: Work with Board of Directors and appropriate staff to maintain accurate corporate records and documents. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and reporting requirements (i.e. annual information returns, payroll withholding, etc.);

  • Board Liaison: work with the Board to establish goals, develop strategic plans, and keep the Board apprised of the state of the organization, including the internal climate of the clinic; develop the annual budget and provide regular budget reports;

This is an hourly position, with compensation starting at $35 to $45 per hour, depending on experience.
